This barn conversion style house located in a village west of Cambridge, surrounds a large courtyard space which leads onto a family lawn. The two objectives of the garden design were to create a functional and exciting family sports lawn and within the Courtyard area an Outdoor Kitchen, Hot Tub area and sun longer area.
The outdoor kitchen is the star of the show and we commissioned a local oak frame building company to produce an open sided structure in which to house the outdoor kitchen, complete with inbuilt BBQ, warming hob, granite work surface and BBQ table. Bespoke inbuilt benches clad in oak and Kebony pine decking provide seating along three sides of the dining table. Pull down canvas waterproof blinds will allow the area to be used more often than the traditional English weather might normally permit. The hot-tub is given privacy by surrounding evergreen foliage, and different ‘rooms’ within the area, create the feeling of a journey through the space. The sports lawn was laid with artificial turf to give a perfect level surface that could be used all year round with a raised oak sleeper retaining edge helping to keep hockey balls on the pitch!
